Tips About Banner Ads

Here are various other tips to consider when designing and publishing banner ads. These are not as vital as the previous points covered but will help increase the effectiveness of your banner ads campaign:

  • 'ALT' and 'TITLE' - If possible, make use of the ALT and TITLE attributes for your banner to make the most of the backlink to your site. This is not available on all sites but it is worth asking the webmasters if they could add them.

  • Relevance - Make sure the banner ad is relevant to the viewer. Even if you place a banner ad on a popular website, it is not going to be very effective unless your site is relevant to the site and it's visitors.

  • Questions - Asking a question in the banner can help engage the viewer and therefore make it more efficient by helping to increase CTR.

  • Which Page? - Make the banner redirect the visitor to the most relevant page on your website, NOT simply the homepage. If you just make a default link to your homepage each time, the visitor may leave your site before even reading through your content as it is not relevant enough to the subject matter of the ad they just clicked.

  • Special Words - It has been proven that use of words such as "Free" & "Click Here" can actually help increase CTR.
